A Bit About Me
Hi, I’m Kenneth, the acupuncturist and owner behind North Hills Community Acupuncture.
I’ve been practicing acupuncture since 2009, but my path into this medicine started in science. I earned my degree in Biotechnology from Pennsylvania State University, with a focus in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and spent time working in neuroscience and ophthalmology research. That background still shapes how I think about the body—both from a scientific and a practical, results-oriented perspective.
I later trained at the Oregon College of Oriental Medicine in Portland Oregon, one of the top acupuncture schools in the country. While I was there, I had the opportunity to study directly with Dr. Richard Tan and learn his Balance Method style of acupuncture. This approach is known for getting fast, noticeable results, especially for pain, and it continues to be the foundation of how I treat with acupuncture.
Portland is also where the community acupuncture movement really took shape, and I had the opportunity to experience this model firsthand while I was in school. I saw how powerful it was for people to be able to come in regularly, get consistent care, and actually make lasting progress—without the stress of high costs. That experience left a lasting impression on me and played a big role in how I practice today.
Since relocating to Pittsburgh, I’ve worked with a wide range of patients—from people dealing with long-standing chronic pain to those just trying to feel like themselves again. I’ve also had the opportunity to treat players from the Pittsburgh Steelers and spend time working at training camp for several seasons.
The reason I started North Hills Community Acupuncture is simple: I believe acupuncture works best when you can come in regularly, not just once in a while. But for most people, the cost of treatment makes that difficult. This clinic is built to remove that barrier—so you can get the care you need, as often as you need it, without it becoming a financial burden.
